Honda XR300 Rally and XR300L Dual-Sport Motorcycles Unveiled for India, Launch Expected This Year

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled its upcoming dual-sport motorcycle lineup with the XR300 Rally and XR300L. Both motorcycles have been developed for the Indian market and will be locally manufactured, with sales expected to begin by December 2026.

The two motorcycles share the same platform but serve different purposes. The XR300L focuses on lightweight commuting and trail riding, while the XR300 Rally is built for adventure touring with rally-inspired styling

Both motorcycles are powered by a 293.5cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine derived from the CB300F. The engine is expected to produce around 26.9bhp and 26.6Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. 

The XR300 Rally gets a more adventure-focused design inspired by Honda’s Dakar Rally machines. It features rally-style bodywork, a larger windscreen for improved touring comfort, Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, a TFT instrument console and a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup.

Both motorcycles come equipped with long-travel suspension, Pro-Link rear monoshock, front and rear disc brakes, switchable dual-channel ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The XR300L follows a simpler approach with reduced bodywork, making it lighter and more accessible for riders who want a capable off-road machine.

The XR300 Rally will enter a growing adventure motorcycle segment in India, competing with models such as the TVS Apache RTX, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure R.

Honda’s current adventure lineup is limited to premium models like the NX500, making the XR300 Rally its first attempt at bringing a more affordable adventure motorcycle to a wider audience.

Honda has not announced official pricing yet, but the XR300 Rally is expected to be positioned around the INR 2 lakh to INR 2.7 lakh range (ex-showroom), while the XR300L is likely to be more affordable.
